I usually park on the street, but I know that’s not for everyone. Luckily Royal Oak and Ferndale aren’t that big or complicated. Royal Oak is putting up a lot of parking garage options because they are trying to eliminate street parking eventually. I linked the parking apps below for you to get started with those. Once you put in your card information it gets pretty easy every other time.

Parking in Detroit can be intimidating if you don’t know where to go. There are always parking garages, however they can get pretty pricey so I stick to the street most of the time.

Detroit

Download the Parkdetroit App to get notifications on your phone for when your parking is up and not have to deal with those parking stations. You won’t have to leave the bar to start a new session or extend your parking time. You can also find free parking at Greektown or MGM Detroit.

Royal Oak

Royal Oak has new meters - so check out their page to learn more about how to avoid tickets! If you get to the parking garage on Center Street before 5pm, you can park there for free for 2 hours.

Ferndale

And yes, a third parking app exists for Ferndale called ParkFerndale, but it’s worth the phone space. It really does make street parking easier! Trust me. New Way has free parking in the back if you’re going further north on Woodward.

Let me know if you have any secret parking spots that are free and I can add them to my list!
